31 Picture: The basic issue is that Francis I, the French ruler, involved the Turkish Porte - a foreign

League of Cognac and started a war against the Habsburgs. The Turks thus considered attacking
Hungary as a possible step. France and Venice played a role in the 1526 Turkish attack against
